They just did an article about him having a fake girlfriend and lying about the identity of the woman caught with him on the beach last May. Now he's been dropped by his own record label. That’s funny. Of course, that really was the address of his house posted. And from what I hear, he’s less freaked about the invasion of privacy aspect (he’s rarely, rarely there) than about people putting one and one together and realizing his not staying with Caroline Lyders outs the fact that they have a very platonic arrangement. Last I heard, he barely tolerates her. The timing of that Radar article and this revelation couldn’t be worse, from his point of view.

What else can I say? The Asia trip did not go well. It didn’t achieve what they’d hoped. Careerwise, a great move for him, but not enough media coverage of “the couple.” And as some of you observed, he lied to al.com about going to Milwaukee after Asia. Not clear about the strategy of lying about this when he was seen by many people elsewhere, right up through New Year’s Day.

So, we're not talking about much money here. 300 x $20 = $6,000 gross. Hell, it costs more than that to produce and distribute a DVD. Even if they do release it, it will sink in two seconds like the beached whale in the photo above.

That DVD will be another flop too. Who do you think will buy it? Only SP, that's who.

Taylor has NOT started a new CD. He said recently that he will be starting it -- in the future tense. That could mean anything. Next month, next year, never...

A couple of mall shows is not "a tour in Asia." Taylor is a liar. He said in an interview that he was just back from "10 dates in Asia." What bullshit! He was on a cheesy Idol show where his English was hard to understand by the locals, and he was in three mall shows where the shoppers and diners in the Food Court walked by and rolled their eyes. Yea!! After seeing the board down, this is not what I expected to find but I am sure glad I did. I have to admit that I was a little pessimistic as I know how hard it can be to undo something. So glad that it appears people were big enough to do just that.
There is so much garbage out there for Taylor, we need to stay strong and united for his support. Will be so glad to see you back.

So, everybody here is a Chroll? Well, no I'm not and I resent that! How about telling it like it is? Taylor has FAILED and I had high hopes for him. You can put any kind of spin you want on him, but IT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT THE GUY HAS FAILED AND HAS LOST HIS RECORD DEAL. I did like him on AI, but he made a crappy CD and I don't like his weird fans. If he gets his shit together, then YES I will support him, but not until then.

That Boogie Board should be shut down permanently! It absolutely stinks and it's run by Nazi bitches! Just another example of the assholes ruining Taylor's career.

First off, I just have to say that I knew I had a lot of friends in the Internet community, but this blows me away. Thank you for all of your very kind words. You have touched my heart in a way that you can’t imagine.

It warms me to know that people I thought had left my world are here being so kind.
I am also surprised (and delighted) to see a few “lurkers” come out to add their support.

So many of you have been a part of my daily routine for a year and a half now (can it really be that long??) and it is sad to think that must end.

I know there are a lot of questions and I wish I had some answers, not only for you but for me as well.

Where to start? Um, no. No I was not warned in any way, shape, or form that this banishment was even a possibility. Why? I don’t know. I’m not hard to find - I’m pretty much “all up in your face” if you go online: This blog, Boogie PMs, my e-mail address is in my Boogie profile, HQ PMs (my e-mail is also listed there), my personal MySpace, The Boogie MySpace … oh, and Admins of message boards have access to member e-mails even if they are not publicly listed. Several of you have my phone number as well.

Some nasty and untrue rumors have been circulated about me that have, unfortunately, been believed by some people who wield power over my Internet World. Let me try to clear the biggest one right now:

Yes, I do belong to and run another message board. However - as it is NOT a Taylor Hicks fan site, I haven’t mentioned it to anyone outside that board. It is a PRIVATE board and quite frankly, it’s none of anyone’s business what other boards I belong to and/or run.

And the nature of that board is what makes this so curious to me. Supposedly, I have been planning a “coup” - a siphoning of Boogie members to this other website in an attempt to “steal” The Boogie. I don’t understand the logic here since it is NOT a Taylor Hicks board. It’s true that many of the members are fans of his, but that doesn’t make it a fan board. So - how can a NON-Taylor Hicks message board be any kind of threat to The Boogie?

You got me.

Next: As one commenter posted - something is rotten in Denmark.

Someone whom a lot of people trust has been spreading this crap. Someone who is of such a duplicitous nature that she has snowed a LOT of folks. I truly, sincerely believe that the entire Boogie is in danger. One person in particular needs to watch out because she is probably next (and doesn’t even know or even suspect it). It makes me very sad to think that way, but things sure point to more shake-ups before this is all over.

There will likely be bodies all over the floor as this person has some power of her own.

Yes - I have (on occasion) complained about The Boogie Admin. But let me ask you this: who here hasn’t? I have personally fielded complaints from many of you. It’s human nature to gripe about “the boss.” I made sure to always preface it with how much I care for and respect said Admin. It was always known to my very tight circle of friends that any complaints I had were NOT personal to the Admin and were said in the heat of the moment … a “vent” if you will. My comments were very general, normal “employee bitching about the boss” and were never meant to convey REAL anger and were NEVER personal attacks on the Admin.

I like the Admin in question. I thought we were friends, which is why this dismissal without so much as an e-mail is so very hurtful.

Now, let me ask a question of y’all: How many of you have bitched about me? Take your time - that’s a LOT of hands to count.

I’d be willing to bet I have butted heads with 90% of you. When you have to enforce the rules, it happens. It comes with the job. I accepted that when I took the job. And I have immensely enjoyed working with you all (even my head-butters). The Boogie Board is worth all the work … Taylor Hicks is worth all the “work” - and it really doesn’t seem like work. Working for The Boogie (or being a member/contributor) is something that can be called a labor of love.

It’s not just me, though. SO MANY of you have contributed SO MUCH to The Boogie, from audio and video to insightful commentary re: Taylor’s musical vision and awesome recaps of the many roadtrips and parties and concerts. And sometimes, it’s fun to just “get silly” in the Etc. Forum or pick up a new recipe.

In short: Without all of YOU, there would BE no Boogie.

And the payouts have been well worth it - The Boogie has become the best Taylor Hicks fan site (although I admit to being a little biased, as we all are toward our “Home Board”). The media collection is amazing and the news is always quick to be posted. The cellcerts have grown so much that I can hardly imagine not doing one whenever I go to a concert (and not just a Taylor Hicks show). And I really like having the setlists in an easily accessible format (thanks to the many many of you who have helped to make the setlists as accurate as possible).

With all that said, I honestly don’t know what will happen tomorrow. I don’t know what my status will be tomorrow. And I can’t promise you that I will be able to return, whether by choice or re-instatement.

I think this is all I can really give you before I speak with the Admin. If there are any questions, please feel free to ask me either in the comments or an e-mail.

glad me I dropped in - - I am going to put on my “business hat” for this

I would be a very happy woman if the people who work for me were as dedicated for pay as you were for free - and if they would be as up front about any issues they have with management.

Am one of the “elders” in Taylor-land and am going to do that eye-rolling thing we swear we’ll never do - - speak from years of experience.

When there is a breakdown in communication in any type of group it is only a matter of time before serious problems follow.

Taking a step back - along with a deep breath - and re-evaluating a position is Not a sign of weakness - it is a sign of strength.

To be a good manager earning people’s respect is mandatory - - earning their good will is helpful - - and having them like you is nice.
When you accomplish all three - you are probably a genius and should consider running for a political office ! :)

It’s a new day today and here’s hoping that it brings more clarity and sanity than yesterday. I went to the Boogie for Taylor-related information but found a whole lot more - and from the time I first went there, you were there - holding the reins - the fastest finger on the internet - taking care of business. If it is your wish to remain there, it is my sincere hope that that there is a intelligent resolution to this situation that should never have evolved to where it is now in the manner that it did. If you were able be on the Boogie now, you would see that people are genuinely upset - just as, no doubt, are you!

Amy, I have not read everything here yet, I spent the whole day yesterday in the hospital waiting room and then come home to this. Many things going on here and I just can’t get caught up now, but I will.
I have come to believe that you saved Boogie from a troll invasion. Now when I check tonight it is gone altogether. I hope it can be worked out but I know how hard it is to undo things.
In the meantime, there are those out there that I believe have spent the last couple of years trying to achieve just this kind of thing. And they are thrilled and laughing their “asses” off.
I can only wish you the best right now, thank you for your hard work, and I will be back to read every word asap. I know we butted heads a few times, but I see now, most of the time you were right. This last 6 months has been a real education.

The song has a great deal to do with the hypocrisy of the music industry. "the glass hidden in the grass" tends to lean toward the pain of trying to "make it" in the music industry.

With lines that talk about "syphon your dough" may very well be talking about how much $$ a record label takes from the artist and how they tend to keep artists as novelties by kneeling and praying that the artist's contract,"long may it last", keep him bound to distress.

What I find funny..is how all you Haters say that his fans have no lives..nothing.

To clear one thing up, no, Katharine has not been dropped by RCA. Her site is down temporarily , and will be back with a new layout. Neither is she with Warner Brothers, a rumor that was started because Foster is producing her next album.
Let me explain something. Katharine cannot be dropped. Her contract was for 1 album with a label option. Her album was released last January. When it dropped, then RCA had a certain amount of time to decide whether to pick up the option. It's now a year later, with Katharine in the studio this month to begin work on her second album, under the RCA lable. Obviously RCA picked up the option.
But that's not what I came to talk about.
Like I said, I've read every post on this miserable thread. I totally realize this is an exercise in futility, but I'm going to try to just lay out the facts for you people as best I can because this incessant fighting is just ridiculous.

- Did you ever think that maybe Taylor was bought out of his three record contract? It was a three record deal, right? Then, without using legalese - the party that wants out, would need to make it okay for the party that is being given the boot. Why? Maybe it’s as simple as they couldn't agree on his direction, how to market him, etc.. Rather than creating another crappy CD, they parted ways.

- No he never hit platinum. But he did sell 700,000 cds. Those aren't considered low sales. They're also not considered stellar sales by AI standards. But at this point it has nothing to do with AI standards. The record companies are all freaking out because record sales are at an all time low and many artists are leaving record companies for the same reason Taylor wanted out. They're tired of trying to make their art fit some superficial mold so that they can make the company money. They want their art to come first. As he once said, he just wants to be able to make a living making music – His music.

- He doesn't need a record deal, just a distribution deal. He can finance his own CD. It doesn't cost THAT much to record a cd. However, to produce it, manufacture it and distribute it.. yeah, that's a completely different story.

- His CD failed because when you try to please everyone, you really please no one - including yourself.

- He IS a temperamental, moody person -- but he's also got a very fun, boyish side as well— Basically, he's just like any guy, only with the added pressure of being in the spotlight, no matter how small that light is these days.

- The girl on the beach? It was Caroline. Get over it already. All the photoshopping in the world won't make it some mystery woman. What is their relationship? That's none of anyone's business. Oh and a side note to MFOYA – You claim he’s freaking out? He isn’t. He’s laughing. Hey, at least he’s getting some publicity.

- The Radar article… was a joke. It completely lambasted Taylor and his fans. It never even hinted at the allegations on the MFYOA site as having any credibility. Instead it poked fun at Taylor Hicks and implied that all of his fans are delusional lunatics who need to be put away in padded cells. Those of you who didn’t understand that are in need of some serious literacy and comprehension courses.

- If any of you have ever noticed, he never actually lied about anything. He's never admitted or denied anything. Let's just say he's taken the politician's approach to speaking. Very slick, but not very bright. He is well aware you all would come to your own conclusions based on what actually came out of his mouth, but I don't think he ever really thought you all were going to go all "Fatal Attraction" on him.

-Taylor had pretty little credibility going in to recording the album thanks to his AI pedigree. However, the people who worked with him actually LIKED him. They weren’t expecting someone who actually had a musical clue and ended up respecting his talent, as did the members of his Spring/Summer band. He could have very well built on all of that, but he's stubborn. Oh well.

-While a large chunk of his fans is slightly unhinged, the minority of that group is completely insane, full of catty women who would stab their own children if it meant getting near the guy. These are the women who are old enough to be his mother, and have sexual thoughts about him- He's a young guy, 31 years old, and not a one of you looks like Demi Moore so that whole “Older woman dating younger man” just won’t happen. Some of you realize it, but there are the few who actually believe that in some world there are enough drugs or booze to make him so messed up he’d come within a foot of you. The funniest thing about all that is some of you who think you’re so ‘in’ with his crew or band mates, are in reality, at the very top of the “keep away from Taylor at all costs” list. It’s great that you like his music – It’s wonderful that on some level he’s Menopause for you and made you feel like you’re all teenagers again. But PLEASE face reality. He'd rather go without sex EVER again than to hook up with ANY of you. Got it?

Taylor Hicks, who was recently dropped from his record label, reportedly applied for a job today at the Trailer Park Mall in Dropsville, Alabama. This comes days after the announcement that the former Idols split from J Records, which had long been expected for the hitless singer. We were able to catch up with Tony Drops at the trailer park that’s adjacent to the mall and asked these questions.

Mr. Drops, I heard that Taylor applied for a job at Trailer Park Mall today. Could you give us more details as to what postion he was applying for?

TD: Taylor who?

I was referring to former singer Taylor Hicks.

TD: You mean the gray haired guy? He didn’t mention that he used to be a singer, but he applied for a janitorial postion. He said he had plenty of experience in that line of work.

Perhaps Mr. Hicks was just being modest because he was at one time the winner on a well know reality television show. That is of course, before he faded from the public eye, but it’s good to know that he’ll now be doing the work that he’s more suited for.

Maybe I could have overlooked that about him, but what I couldn’t overlook was the puddle of sweat that surrounded him, and kept getting larger by the second. But I do agree that I don't consider myself part of the soul patrol. I consider myself a supporter of Taylor Hicks. I haven't been to dozens of concerts, never had a m&g and don't plan on it. 2xs was enough for me. If he ever comes to this part of the country again, then I'll consider seeing him, but not about to waste money on flying to him.

So what is considered "crazy" here. I have been called a 'fat old hag", a 'stalker', a 'crazy nut', a 'pot stiring bitch', ect....... too many insults to post. Why? Because I went against the fray for not loving everthing that TH did. Because I DO NOT like the TH cd. Some songs are good but most I can do without. I went ONE, yes ONE concert WITH MY HUSBAND, for our 14th anni., I bought TWO TH cds to get the bonus tracks from WalMart. Yes I have went to Leno Twice b/c my house shedule fit the dates. Yes back in the day I was involved in drolling over Tay b/c dam it he's HOT. Just b/c I'm 40 doesn't mean I can't "admire" a hott younger guy. At no time did ever consider 'doing him'. Yuke he is the age on my youngest bro in law. That would be creepy to say the least.

IMO, the spot light was put on the oldies during AI, didn't know my teens were "old". I wonder if the BSB fans hate me as this much. I mean I am MUCH older then the guy in that band and well I have said very clearly that all of them youngies are hot.

So what is it, if we, only the women, are over 35, then we should buy the cd, not go to any concerts, stay at home and shut up?

This fan base has been attacked by the others fan from the begining. When any of us fight back we are considered mean and hateful. Well F that.

I did come to clearity after the concert I went to for one reason. I managed to get the roadie to roll a water bottle to me well he missed and tried again. Another woman crapped it from under my hand. My first thought was to take her down and get that dam bottle back. Reality slapped me hard. I actually had the throught of turning on this lady over a water bottle. Me hubby said he saw fire in my eyes and was ready to crap me. PLEASE!!! I would have never done it but the simple fact that I even thought it was enough for me.

Also I am embarresd by my weight so after waiting at the last Leno show all day allowed myself to hide in a group of young girls b/c I did not want to be seen. Side note here. I was in the middle of these pretty young things and who was dragged out the the group for an interveiw ME!! Why? To show that the old chicklike Hicks and not the young one.

SORRY!!!! for the rant.........

Roxie, I have only attended one of his shows. Yes, he is a good performer and an attractive guy, but there is absolutely no way I would follow him all over the country. He's not a Bono, JT or Mayer - PERIOD. Sorry, he's NOT!

I do not follow him that much on the internet either - I only read up on any news about him. I do not follow all the drama that goes on in his fanbase, but I am aware that he has a group of women that follow him all over the country. I personally find that nuts. Don't these women have jobs and families to attend to? I still say these women are groupie/stalkers, thinking they have a chance with him and they will say it's his music, but it's really not. There are rumors that Kat has been signed to another label, but no confirmation yet. She is also working with David Foster, which is a perfect fit for her. all signs point to the obvious : true music consumers right now are a ) young , & b) smart . young kids are able to point & click their way to every new trend . they arguably have short attention spans & they want to be in on what's cool & personable to them . when madonna emerged in the '80s you had tons of girls around the world imitating her every move & style down to the mole . kurt cobain turned grunge commercial when he was exposed to millions of kids who felt like society's outsiders looking in . hip-hop has been a huge influence on mainstream culture since the early '80s because of it's relativity . kids have not changed . young people are not mindless robots who like what you tell them to like with no opinions . the youth are always looking to be enthralled .

Has the star-making machinery of "American Idol" grown rusty?

RCA Records just confirmed that it's dropped fifth-season runnerup (from 2006) Katharine McPhee.

The adorable songbird is the latest "AI" finalist to be ejected from the BMG nest - following Season 2's Ruben Studdard and Season 5's Taylor Hicks.

McPhee's first CD entered the charts at No. 2 in February 2007, but failed to go gold. Her defenders grouse that RCA didn't give her the time or promotion she needed.

"Winning 'American Idol' is no longer a guarantee that you're going to make it," says one industry source. "Katharine was hot for a few months. But audiences are fickle."

But one top BMG exec insists: "It's preposterous to say this franchise has lost its luster. It's the envy of the music industry. We've sold over 50 million albums by 'AI' artists since the show started.

"We put millions behind Katharine. Many of us at the label still love her songs. But we're in the major leagues. We didn't think she could break into the mainstream. We would rather be honest." (McPhee is talking with another label and is due to star in the movie "I Know What Boys Like.")

The exec noted that Studdard (above, right) put out three albums, "but there comes a time when we have to recognize the market for adult-oriented albums is tough. We allowed him to be a free agent, to make the record he wanted to make.

"The same thing with Taylor Hicks (above, left). We didn't want to shove any songs down his throat. We wanted to make an album in the style he was comfortable with. We mutually agreed that he'd work on an album [on his own], we'd listen, and we'd see where we go from there. There's no acrimony."

The BMG group still counts eight "AI" contenders on its roster, including Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry (both of whom delivered top 10 albums in 2007), Blake Lewis (with one album), Fantasia (with three), Jordin Sparks (working on her second), and Clay Aiken and Kelly Clarkson (both working on their fourth albums).

And though she was signed nearly three years ago, execs at BMG's Arista label are still looking forward to Jennifer Hudson's album, due out in May or June.

"We understood that her appearance in 'Dreamgirls' would only make her a bigger star," says the exec. (Indeed, it won her an Oscar.) "We are always willing to be patient with people who have the goods."

Record labels are about making money - PERIOD. They will always cater to the kids. Who do you think spends money on music, downloads and concert tickets? Wild guess - it's not the old geezers.

Want proof - look at Miley Cyress and the millions she's currently making.

If you think the record industry as a whole is doing just fine financially then I have a bridge to sell you. It's in a freaking free fall.

Kids don't have any money. But your

Well, in Taylor's case he needed those baby boomers to purchase his music and attend his concerts and they clearly did not.

Music is about what sells and if the kids buy, then that's the market you want to sell to. It's simple economics!

Anyone who has taken a marketing 101 course knows that the baby boomers are the biggest demographic there is.

Most intelligent businesses understand that and cater to their wants and needs. After all they also have the most disposable income to blow too.

There is no reason to alienate any demographic. In fact it's quite foolish to do so.

Being the biggest demographic has nothing to do with it. The majority do not buy music, download or attend concerts! Adult-oriented music is a tough market!

It's called label promotion. It really didn't happen with Taylor's cd after the first two weeks. There were radio friendly songs on the cd.

Anyway, according to more accurate reporting today Taylor didn't get dropped but is being allowed to make an album of his music which will more than likely be along the lines of his two previous indie records style wise.

Taylor's CD was labeled as AC material. AC radio consists of past and current hit songs (songs that have charted on Billboard). New music is rarely played on most AC stations. To have a hit song, in most cases, it must be played on top 40.

In other words, Taylor's music was rejected by top 40 stations.

It honestly isn't such a bad thing to be shunned by today's top 40 radio. 99% of that dreck will not be remembered 10 years from now.

It all depends on the music you put out. Acts like JT, Green Day, Christina Aguilera, Sheryl Crow are still around. Hell, even Kelly Clarkson is closing in on 10 years.

I hope TH put some catchy hooks on this one. Many of his songs were so close to be a hit but just lacked something. I have said it before, JTFTW was the only POP radio freindly song on the cd. Dream Myself Awake needs to be revamped with a serious country twist and it would hit top 40. Maybe put a little Toby edge on things. Hell we all know the man cuses like a sailor, Get rid of the shy counrtyboy act and dirty it up a bit by being real.

One more thing, there is nothing wrong with being a niche artist at all, especially if it allows the artist to make their music their way. Those niche artists mentioned above get to do what they love, earning a very good living without the craziness of celebrity.

Look at Britney. She's been one of the most commercially successful pop stars but all that fame and money isn't doing her a world of good right now.

Also has more regional appeal down South. The rest of general public in the US - never heard of it.

Britney at the moment has problems which has little to do with her career.

If you read music blogs you would see that many see that as the direction of the record industry if it is to survive.

Taylor Hicks is the American Idol. He will be stuck with that title for the rest of his life. There is no way he will move past it. All of the winners are stuck with the title, whether they succeed or fail.

Britney had it all at one time. All that fame and fortune isn't helping her right now in fact it's keeping her from getting the help she needs because she has never had the benefit of living in normal surroundings.

She's a tall Texan, and someone Taylor met in Kansas City in late April. She was seen at both of his Kansas City concerts, and then with him at the Pala Casino blackjack table in early May in CA. That was during the days that Caroline was proven to be on-air live at her Milwaukee tv station. He and the mystery lady went to Maui together in late May and got caught by the paparazzi on the beach.

This is another fine example of how Taylor's supporters are imploding on themselves. The owner of this site, according to the BB, went under the name BluesandSoul and was a Mod on the BB till she was banned last week for questionable activities. Several people are claiming that B&S AKA Evancol is giving negative information to MF or others involved in the MF site.

When someone posts something like this statement in front of their place of business for the entire world to see, it's not only a bad reflection on the site owner and it's partners, it also reflects on Taylor and his fanbase.

Guilty as charged..... I am definitely a first class smart ass.... I know a lot of people think I'm a hard ass, I'm sure I can be a mean ass at times, and I have probablybeen guilty on occasion of being a total ass ... but I am NOT "The Ass".

For those of you who are not "in the loop", the fan police have outed me again. The most recent revelation in the ongoing effort to smear me is the allegation that I am involved in the Ass blog. Seems that at the least I am "the inside source" who is feeding information to the blog, and I may even be "The Ass". I found this out Thursday when several people were kind enough to let me know that the information was being disseminated through e-mails and/or PMs.

Ok.... so I think I'll just go right to the source and ask what they based the authenticity of this claim on ..... knowing that they would either have to have e-mails between me and "the ass" or have had me tell them directly in order to actually be able to honestly tell this .... otherwise, they were just spreading a lie.... well, amazingly enough.... they had no actual facts. I'm told that "it started quite awhile ago....many people have talked about it" .... hmmm. And, that it very well may have come from inside "my camp" and I should look closely as I might have "a mole".

Wow..... I didn't know I HAD a camp, damn, and I've already got a mole. That must mean I'm really cool and important. But to show you how dumb I am, I had no clue I was anywhere near enough of an "insider" to be providing anyone information.

I am past trying to change anyone's opinion of me....they will believe what they choose to. But I do have a few things to comment on about this specific incident, and then a few observations in general for anyone who cares to actually THINK about the bigger issue.

- This one is purely selfish. Next time someone wants to smear me, if it doesn't ruin the story plot, can I have a posse? I've always thought it would be really neat to have a posse.

- IF anyone actually knew me, they would KNOW without a doubt that since day 1 (long before that blog began) I have maintained that fans have absolutely no right to know anything about Taylor's private life, so the idea of me either creating or furthering that site is actually stupid.

- Know the agenda of the person who is telling you the story.... do they have anything to gain, do they like to be "in the know", or maybe even have their own issue with the person. While I am sure the person Thursday had only the best of intentions in warning fellow fans about the dangers of my presence in the fan base.....it does add an interesting twist that not too long ago I voiced some concerns (to proper people, not PMs and e-mails to fellow fans) about a fundraising endeavor that she runs, which led to some questions being asked, and that I did not allow her to promote things on the sites that I was in charge of. Again, I am sure that had no impact on her desire to share negative information about me, just coincidence ....

- I was accused of providing IP addresses to the Ass blog .... This one I don't even understand. I've been dealing with these type sites for several years, and they do not care who posts on their site, they welcome everyone. It's the FAN BOARDS who want to identify who is posting at those blogs, so they are the ones after the IP addresses to identify which of the members are carrying information off of their blogs.

And then..... some general points to ponder which might save someone else from falling prey to someone's smear campaign.

- When anyone offers you up "the scoop" on someone, ask them if they actually even know the person they are sharing information about. Then, ask them if there is any hard proof of the fact .... 9 times out of 10, there will not be.

- Again, know the agenda of the person who is giving you this information.

- And most importantly.... To those involved in the effort.... You may succeed in hurting someone's reputation or casting doubt on their character with people who do not know them, but this will not give you the one thing you want so badly, which is legitimacy and status. You cannot get off the fringes of the group by undermining someone else. Respect is something you earn on a daily basis through your OWN actions, and character is about what you do when no one is looking.
And.....as a matter of clarification to an earlier conversation ....I do not make random statements or throw out casual comments without knowing exactly what I am speaking about, and my intent. President Bush signed the Violence Against Women Act into law in January 2006. Included with the main law were a number of smaller, supplemental acts, including some specific legislation formulated to afford people the same protection on the internet that they have in the written and spoken word. It seeks to afford the same rights on the internet as given in the Supreme Court Decision awarded in 1984 in Calder v. Jones. The internet version has been proven to withstand the courts in the case of Wagner v. Miskin which resulted in a $3,000,000 award to the victim.

Last year was terrible for the recorded-music majors. The next few years are likely to be even worse

IN 2006 EMI, the world's fourth-biggest recorded-music company, invited some teenagers into its headquarters in London to talk to its top managers about their listening habits. At the end of the session the EMI bosses thanked them for their comments and told them to help themselves to a big pile of CDs sitting on a table. But none of the teens took any of the CDs, even though they were free. “That was the moment we realised the game was completely up,” says a person who was there.

In public, of course, music executives continued to talk a good game: recovery was just around the corner, they argued, and digital downloads would rescue the music business. But the results from 2007 confirm what EMI's focus group showed: that the record industry's main product, the CD, which in 2006 accounted for over 80% of total global sales, is rapidly fading away. In America, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the volume of physical albums sold dropped by 19% in 2007 from the year before—faster than anyone had expected. For the first half of 2007, sales of music on CD and other physical formats fell by 6% in Britain, by 9% in Japan, France and Spain, by 12% in Italy, 14% in Australia and 21% in Canada. (Sales were flat in Germany.) Paid digital downloads grew rapidly, but did not begin to make up for the loss of revenue from CDs. More worryingly for the industry, the growth of digital downloads appears to be slowing.

“In 2007 it became clear that the recorded-music industry is contracting and that it will be a very different beast from what it was in the 20th century,” says Mark Mulligan, an analyst at JupiterResearch. Last year several big-name artists bypassed the record labels altogether. Madonna left Warner Music to strike a deal with Live Nation, a concert promoter, and the Eagles distributed a bestselling album in America without any help from a record label. Radiohead, a British band, deserted EMI to release an album over the internet. These were isolated, unusual deals, by artists whose careers had already brought years of profits to the big music companies. But they made the labels look irrelevant and will no doubt prompt other artists to think about leaving them too.

The smallest major labels, EMI and Warner Music, are struggling most visibly. Warner Music's share price has fallen to $4.75, 72% lower than its IPO price in 2005, and it is weighed down by debt. EMI's new private-equity owner, Terra Firma, paid a high price for the business in August 2007. Now, having got rid of most of EMI's senior managers and revealed embarrassing details of their spending habits (£200,000 a year went on sundries euphemistically referred to in the music business as “fruit and flowers”), Terra Firma is due to produce a new strategy later this month. But many observers reckon the private-equity men are out of their depth.

The two biggest majors—Universal, which is owned by Vivendi, a French conglomerate, and Sony BMG, a joint venture between Sony and Bertelsmann, a German media firm—derive some protection from their parent companies. Universal is the strongest and is gaining market share. But people speculate that Bertelsmann may want to sell out to Sony next year.

Three vicious circles have now set in for the recorded-music firms. First, because sales of CDs are tumbling, big retailers such as Wal-Mart are cutting the amount of shelf-space they give to music, which in turn accelerates the decline. Richard Greenfield of Pali Research, an independent research firm, reckons that retail floor-space devoted to CDs in America will be cut by 30% or more in 2008. The pattern is likely to repeat itself elsewhere as sales fall.
Circular arguments

Second, because the majors are cutting costs severely, particularly at EMI and Warner Music, artists are receiving far less marketing and promotional support than before, which could prompt them to seek alternatives. “They've cut out the guts of middle managers and there are fewer people on the ground to promote records,” says Peter Mensch, manager of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Shania Twain.

Third, record companies face such hostile conditions that their backers, whether private equity or corporations, are loth to spend the sums required to move into the bits of the music industry that are thriving, such as touring and merchandising. The majors are trying to strike “360-degree” deals with artists that grant them a share of these earnings. But even if artists agree to such deals, they will not hand over new rights unless they get better terms on recorded music, so the majors may not see much benefit overall. Tim Renner, a former boss of Universal Music in Germany, says the majors should have acted years ago. “Then they had the money and could have built the competence by buying concert agencies and merchandise companies,” he says. Now it may be too late.

By mid-2007, when the majors realised that digital downloads were not growing as quickly as they had hoped, they landed on a more adventurous digital strategy. They now want to move beyond Apple's iTunes and its paid-for downloads. The direction of most of their recent digital deals, such as with Imeem, a social network that offers advertising-supported streamed music, is to offer music free at the point of delivery to consumers. Perhaps the most important experiment of all is a deal Universal struck in December with Nokia, the biggest mobile-phone maker, to supply its music for new handsets that will go on sale later this year. These “Comes With Music” phones will allow customers to download all the music they want to their phones and PCs and keep it—even if they change handsets when their year's subscription ends. Instead of charging consumers directly, Universal will take a cut of the price of each phone. The other majors are expected to strike similar deals.

“‘Comes with Music' is a recognition that music has to be given away for free, or close to free, on the internet,” says Mr Mulligan. Paid-for download services will continue and ad-supported music will become more widespread, but subsidised services where people do not pay directly for music will become by far the most popular, he says. For the recorded-music industry this is a leap into the unknown. Universal and its fellow majors may never earn anything like as much from partnership with device-makers as they did from physical formats. Some among their number, indeed, may not survive.

Once again, the record industry is dead. They are finally admitting it. Downloading is declining as well as physical sales of cd's. They are having to think of ways to get people to take their product.

Before Christmas last year several thousand record industry employees were fired because sales are that bad.

Warner Music Group stock is ~$5.00 a share for the last few weeks.
