Although there was an immensely obvious sense of loss on the red carpet last night, there was also a huge sense of pride for the late Heath Ledger, as well as an overall nod of agreement at his achievement in the role of Joker. As the cast from the newly anticipated Batman movie gathered in front of the waiting media, there were nothing but great words for the sorely missed actor. Co star Christian Bale was one of many to make a moving tribute to the star:
"He steals the movie and I'm quite happy to say that. He's a hell of a talent and created a joker that's very iconic and one that will become a classic portrayal of the ages."
Although close pal Jake Gyllenhaal and former girlfriend Michelle Williams were no shows (Michelle had confirmed before hand she would not be attending), Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Josh Hartnett, Christian Bale, Penn Badgley, Blake Lively, Lauren Conrad, Sibi Blazic, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman arrived to bring in the world premiere of a Dark Knight, held at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square Theatre, NYC.
