"Body of Lies" Has Got Golshifteh Farahani In Trouble

Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani, who has just appeared as Leonardo DiCaprio's love interest in "Body of Lies", feels that appearing in the film has caused her a lot of trouble back home in Iran. The 25 year old actress said: "[Iranian officials] took my passport. The intelligence service interrogated me several times. In the end, the judge said, 'We have to see the movie and then decide what we're going to do with you'". Farahani features alongside DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in the film as "Aisha", a nurse who looks after DiCaprio's character.
Farahani is well known in Iran and is the first Iranian-based actress to appear in a Hollywood movie since the Islamic Revolution took place in her homeland in 1979. She fears the political content of "Body of Lies" will anger some of the stricter bodies of government in Iran. Recently, the beautiful actress has been living in France with her husband.

The beautiful Star of the east has been come to the west… I hope the suits in Hollywood realize it!!! that if they give her a major role – the movie instantly will have a very large box-office draw - just by the millions of Persians living outside of Iran who worship her talents and can't wait to see her next film! So I think it’ll be a 'very smart move' that she get’s a part that she can make her talents shin!

I would like to express my support as an Iranian for Golshifteh Farahani. I think she is a very talented actress and I praise her for her courage and appearing in this great movie. I enjoyed it very much. I know it is hard for people in the West to understand how appearing in a movie is brave. Let's just say, if she gets convicted to 5 years prison no one would be surprised here in Tehran. Oh, by the way Iranians are Persian they are not Arab!!! peace!!
