The van is a little off--the exhaust system on the side isn't correct (should be squares), and from what I can see, the front lights on the brushguard arent accurate...other than that, it's cool to see the classic van running again!
The original van had red wheels and the GMC logo on the grill was blacked out(or removed). It looks like this van could be a clone of the original? It looks close, but definitely isn't the original.
wow-the first remake in recent history where they didn't throw in some new vehicle-of-the-week (Scooby Doo's non VW van, Bumblebee as a Camaro, etc).
The tow hook attachments, I don't recall those on the original,-if they were they were blacked out. I'm gonna have to check my Season 1 DVDs..
I hope this will be as fun and cool as the series, not some weird comedy thing like they did with Dukes of Hazzard. BA better hate flying, Face better not be a female character (like they did in BSG) Murdock better not be politically correct and "misunderstood", and if Hannibal's not smoking a cigar then there's gonna be yet another loss from my childhood.
Definitely nice to see a run of the mill vehicle being customized to look like the original rather than showing off GM's new minivan concept or whatever.
... and is it just me, or has it got a winch? That's definitely not a license plate and the one in the original tv show didn't have one (or those big d-rings), given that it likely won't have anything that isn't necessary to the plot, I'm a bit concerned as to how those get used.
Yes the vans have winches. And I say vans because they actually have THREE exact replicas on the set (I'm workin in the film, was on set all day today). The work on the van is EPIC. It's gonna rock.
The red stripe also looks different. On the original van, it ran up less steep and started going up just behind the front doors. However, the 'new' van looks cool!
I loved the original A-team. I would race home from school just to watch it. I love to build things so I hope they build something to help out the little "guy". I live for what the A-team stood for and I teach my kids to do the same. And with this screwed up world, I have wanted to call them once or twice to help me out from the "bad people of the world". I am looking forward to seeing it on opening day.
The filming is going in Vancouver in the rockies. That is why the hills look so big. They are huge. They also have a 2001 Lamborghini Diablo replica. Mine, or it was mine.
Alright, what's the deal with this thing. Sure it is "close" but that's certainly relative. There's A LOT that's not right with this van. How is it that a big budget movie can get things so wrong?
From front to back:
1) The brush bar is incorrect
2) Tow hooks and a winch - inaccurate
3) The side mirrors - inaccurate
4) The roof light bar - incorrect
5) The wheels - inaccurate
6) Side exhaust - incorrect
7) The side graphics - inaccurate
8) Loovers on the back door - incorrect
So yes, it's close, but only in that they seem to have used a similar donor van to start from. From there 90% is not right nor does it hold true to the origional.
Someone put a call out to Jay Ohrberg - he'd get it right.
This van looks like some cheap knock-off. If nothing else, the red stripe should start going up as soon as it is past the driver's / front passenger's door.
Not sure if they got the section above the stripe the correct metallic grey (the van is often mistaken for being all black) of it it's just the light.
Either way, I'm pretty excited. I just hope it turns out better than the missed-opportunity and downright-insulting 'Dukes of Hazzard'.
errr, is it just me or is the van way out of proportion here... if not, the dudes in the background could be ginormous... and their trucks.
It's not just you! What's going on with these photos? The scale/proportions are way off. Very strange. The 'ol van is looking cool though.
it's called a long (telephoto) lens.

It's not really that ginormous. What you're seeing is spatial compression, whoever took the shot took it from pretty far away with a really long lens.

Could have just borrowed mine if they asked ??
Do you actually have a replica van? That's awesome!
+1 for that!
Here's a clear shot of how badly they've messed up the van:
