Estelle Getty's prized 1988 Emmy has surfaced on eBay, one year after the actress' death.
The trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for The Golden Girls was put up for sale by a seller who specializes in fine art.
The Academy of TV Arts and Sciences is working on having the Emmy returned. The initial asking price is $15,000. No bids have been made yet.
This is America folks, if you buy something you OWN it -and you may do with it as you please. Artifact, award, whatever it may be. I don't believe that an organizations "rules" can change that. If the Academy feels so strongly about this why didn't they purchase the award at the public auction where it was sold prior to it's being posted on ebay?
