Actress Natalie Portman has reportedly labelled the recession "exciting".
The 28-year-old thinks the recession allows for everyone to re-evaluate their priorities.
Portman, who filmed a sketch about the financial downturn for comedy website Funny or Die last year, believes the economic crisis means people have been given the opportunity to pursue their passions in life.
The beauty reportedly said: "I think it's kind of an exciting time. I mean, everyone is cutting back. It's happening in every industry - including our own."
She added: "All of a sudden, people are doing jobs that they hate and they're not making as much money as they thought they would or they've lost their jobs entirely. I've started to see people looking more toward their own passions and what really excites them."

Taken out of context. Try reading the whole quote instead of being sensationalistic.
Taken out of context? I read the whole quote, she's just a stupid rich girl who doesn't know what the word ``work´´ means. She was terribly naive, insensitive and immature. I'm done with this airhead.
Hope she has 10 papparazzis following her each time she goes out of her L.A. mansion.
following their passions? If anything people are taking up any jobs, even the ones they hate to make sure they're earning enough to keep up their lifestyle..
You have to give Hollywood some credit for being so persistent in their attempts to prove over and over again how completely ignorant they all really are!
For a Harvard graduate she's pretty stupid. As if people can afford to be selfish, and had the time to afford that "passion". I guess her apathy to ordinary people's plight is brought on by being pampered by her rich parents and her self-indulgence. because how can she relate to people whose worried when their next meal is coming from.
Wow that's an amazingly stupid thing for natalie portman, of all people, to say. It sounds like something katie holmes or heidi from the hills would say....
Its very easy for someone with millions of dollars in the bank to make a flippant comment about how a recession is an exciting time and people can look to pursue their passions.
She is completely Insensitive and ignorant. I thought she was a smart girl. Guess not.
R U Serious!!!!!! its EXCITING!!!!!!!!
I guess she dosnt know how it feels to loose everythng u have worked 4 because of ur STUPID, IMPERIALISTIC, CAPITALIST GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OF course she dosnt see the bigger picture!!!!! i mean she's blinded by all her milliions$$$$
SHE has no idea how hard it is for a family to live from paychech to paycheck trying to pay there mortgage and feed thier families!!!!!!
And she just bought a $7 million dollar home. I think she needs a reality check. Losing one's job sometimes may lead to other opportunities, but in this economy it is dreadful. People who had health insurance no longer have it. People - families - are burning through their savings just to stay a float and not lose their homes. She is an embarrassment to her education.
R u SERIOUS!!!!!! EXciting!!!!! SHe must not know how hard it is to loose everything u had because of ur STUPID IMPERIALISTIC CAPITALIST GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!!
She must not know how it is 4 a family to live paycheck to paycheck to try to pay thier mortgage and feed thier families in this down economy!!!!!! GRoceries, gas, car payments, credit payments, all bills are so high!!!! and this is suppose to be EXCITING!!!!!!! I HOPE SHE READS THIS!!!!
This spoiled smartass is almost 30 years old, could she learn once and for all to shut that huge mouth of hers?????
