The preliminary hearing over Anna Nicole Smith's prescription drug death is well underway.

The first witness just took the stand and testified that authorities found a baby bottle of Pedialyte on her bed, along with a bottle of Cipro.

Anna had been battling the flu on the day that she died and these two drugs were used to help rehydrate and treat infections.

On February 8, 2007 Smith was found unresponsive at the Hard Rock Hotel in Florida.  Her official cause of death was a deadly cocktail of prescription drugs.

Howard K. Stern, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich are charged with fueling her drug habit.

The late Anna Nicole Smith was investigated by the FBI over a possible plot to kill the son of her late husband J. Howard Marshall--the 89-year old oil tycoon she married when she was 26--this is according to newly released documents.

The investigation took place between 2000-01--after Howard's death--when his son, E. Pierce Marshall, was trying to keep Anna from getting a chunk of his father's wealth...which Anna claimed Howard would've wanted.

According to the FBI documents, authorities confiscated a couple of weapons from Anna's home which included a gun and a knife.  

In July 2000, Anna was questioned by the FBI, but according to the documents Anna turned on the waterworks and began "crying and denied ever making such plans."  

Ultimately the FBI decided that there was "insufficient evidence to establish that there was a murder-for-hire plot.."

In the end, Pierce died in 2006 and Anna's estate is supposed to get the millions.  

The charges were brought in California where Smith lived for much of her adult life. But now authorities in Florida, where Smith died of a massive drugs overdose at the Seminole Hard Rock Resort in Hollywood, have met with their counterparts in California. Ron Ishoy, spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale-based State Attorney Mike Satz, intimated that the Florida death investigation could be re-opened.

Stern, psychiatrist Kristine Eroshevich and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor are each facing a count of felony conspiracy to obtain drugs for Smith and 'prescribing, administering or dispensing a controlled substance to an addict. 

Dr. Kapoor's office was raided by Drug Enforcement Agency officials last month after a tip off from the California Medical Board. Stern and Kapoor have also been charged with a single count of unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance between June 9, 2004, and September 22, 2006, and Stern and Eroshevich received the same charge for prescriptions they gave out between June 5, 2004 and January 26, 2007.
