It’s New Year’s Eve and what better way to see in 2008 than with a loved one and that was exactly what was on the cards for lovebirds Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson. The grungy looking couple were spotted arriving at Miami International airport yesterday looked really happy with one another, well at least Pete was, Ashlee tried her damndest to look mean and moody, but with someone like Pete around, you can’t help but to crack a smile. Fall Out Boy’s main man recently told press that 2007 has been a great year for him on all levels: “On a personal level, this year I’ve allowed myself to find happiness. In some bizarre way, I’ve always felt guilty about being happy before. But now, to me, it’s a big deal, and I’m letting myself be OK with being happy—happy in an honest, genuine way, not a medicated way, which is good.” Although happy with Fall Out Boy, Pete expressed a desire to branch out from the umbrella of boy band, “I don’t want to be ‘the dude in the band’ forever. I’m thinking of maybe doing dark, small roles in independent movies. I’m not thinking of getting a million dollars a picture on a big budget movie, just low-key things just for myself. I’ve never really had a chance to play a character outside myself or the heartthrob guy. I probably have a desire to be someone besides who I am, kind of. Ashlee Simpson has been banned from bringing her boyfriend Pete Wentz home for Christmas, it has been claimed. The pop star's dad Joe Simpson, a former Baptist preacher, is reportedly preventing rocker Wentz from attending the Simpson festive holiday. At the centre of the alleged problem is Wentz's interview with Blender magazine in which he claimed to have kissed other men. "Joe was skeptical about the relationship from the start," an insider told Star magazine. "There is a rumour that Pete tried to commit suicide, but with the news of his possible bisexuality, Joe blew his top." The news has not gone down well with Ashlee. "She is upset, but she values her dad's opinions and has agreed." Note to Joe: Ashlee is very young, this won't be the first boyfriend you don't like and it won't be the last!
