Today is the one-year anniversary of Heath Ledger's death, and also the day that his Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor was announced. Ledger will be up against Robert Downey Jr. (Tropic Thunder), Josh Brolin (Milk), Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), and Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt).
Usmagazine.com reports that "Many of his costars predicted he would receive a posthumous nomination," and "Ledger himself also thought the role was worthy of awards."
Do you think that Heath Ledger will receive the award posthumously?
A fight has reportedly broken out over who should accept Heath Ledger's posthumous Golden Globe should he win the award.
Ledger, who died of a drug overdose in January, is up for the prestigious award for his portrayal of "The Joker" in the latest Batman flick, The Dark Knight.
But behind-the-scenes the late actor's parents are said to be at odds with the film's producers over who should collect it.
His father, Kim, reportedly wants to accept it - but the studio wants Ledger's ex-partner Michelle Williams to do it for the couple's young daughter, Matilda.
A source told a US newspaper: "Kim desperately wants to do it. But the studio and the producers would rather have Michelle receive it on behalf of Matilda."
But a friend of the family refuted the suggestions that Williams would collect the award.
The pal told the New York Daily News: "Why would Michelle be involved? She had nothing to do with the movie. They weren't even together when he passed away. Would you have your ex-wife accept your award? And they weren't even married. [Director] Chris Nolan or [star] Christian Bale would make more sense. Michelle makes no sense."
Ledger is up against Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr, Ralph Fiennes and Philip Seymour Hoffman for the award.

Heath Ledger's untimely death and its consequences are still making news. It seems his life insurance company, ReliaStar, are not happy about the thought of coughing up $10 million insurance, which would go to a trustee in the name of his daughter Matilda. It appears the insurance film are looking deeply into the surroundings of Ledger's death, to see if they can ascertain whether the actor died by accident or whether he committed suicide. If a ruling is made that "The Dark Knight" star did kill himself, then the insurance company will not have to pay out the $10 million insurance.
Ledger took out the life insurance just 6 months before he died, in what has been classed as an accidental death due to drug overdose, by the New York City Medical Examiner. However, ReliaStar have put their own investigative team to work, according to TMZ, to check their suicide clause. TMZ has reported that lawyers representing Matilda's trustees are to sue the insurance company.

Actress Mary-Kate Olsen (pictured here on the day of Heath's Ledgers death) has reportedly refused to be interviewed about the death of the Batman actor, unless she receives immunity from prosecution.
Olsen was widely rumoured to have been dating the Dark Knight star and was the first person called when his body was found following his drug overdose. She controversially called her own bodyguards instead of police or ambulance crews.
Now insiders say the pint-sized actress is the only person refusing to be interviewed by federal investigators who have been looking into the star's accidental drug overdose in his apartment in January.
The investigation is trying to reveal how Ledger got the drugs that eventually killed him, especially Oxycontin, known as 'Hillbilly heroin', which insiders say is believed to have been obtained illegally.
The FBI contacted her lawyer, Michael Miller, several times recently seeking her cooperation, but Miller says that Olsen will not be interviewed unless she gets immunity, exercising her constitutional rights, according to the Post.
According to sources, all of the drugs in Ledger's body were discovered nearby in prescription bottles - with the exception of OxyContin, a powerful painkiller.
Investigators "are trying to ID the source of the OxyContin," a source said. "Did it come from a dealer, from a friend? "If he had a bottle from a friend, was it taken by someone else before police responded? That is what is trying to be determined."
Michelle Williams may be trying her best to hide from the ever present glare of the media, but that doesn't mean she's been successful in avoiding Hollywood's spotlight altogether. As her ex fiances latest film, A Dark Knight, smashes box office records, reports have surfaced this week that the broken hearted actress has found love again with director Spike Jonze.
Heath Ledger tragically died in January this year of an accidental overdose in his Manhattan apartment. Seven months on and it's obvious Michelle is struggling to come to terms with his sudden death. Although the couple split in September 2007, after a three year relationship, their daughter Matilda kept a special bond between the pair.
Sources say Spike, who was previously married to Sophia Coppola, may be the shoulder Williams requires, in order to move on. The pair met in 2006 during an audition for one of his films, but their true friendship bloomed last year on the set of Synecdouche. They have since been spied enjoying pizza in NYC, many witnesses confirming the company appeared to be a romantic nature.
