After attending the afternoon memorial for the publicist Robert Garlock, Hugh Grant then joined Kate Winslet, Vanessa Redgrave, Ellen Barkin, and Uma Thurman for a post service gathering at Liam Neeson's apartment. Later Splash spotted Hugh leaving for dinner with his brother, James Grant. Considering the nature of his day, he looked in high spirits.
I have to say, this is first time I have ever seen a picture of Hugh's brother, and I think we know which one won in the looks department.

Kate Winslet and husband Sam Mendes were some of the many celebs seen leaving the Walter Reade Theater after a memorial service for publicist Robert Garlock. Penelope Cruz, Uma Thurman, Hugh Grant and Ellen Barkin also attended the service.

Hugh Grant looked a bit gloomy as he spotted the paps while walking by a Halal Meat vendor on his way inside the Barney's department store in New York City. Liz Hurley (not pictured) was also inside the store during the same time that Hugh walked inside. Does any man like being dragged round the shops by a woman?

If I were a gossip queen, I would say that Liz Hurley and Hugh Grant may have briefly joined the mile high club yesterday, as they took the same New York flight from London. But in reality, I imagine they both knew they were going to be in NYC at the same time, so the ex-couple decided to do the journey with the company of each other.
Although, they must have been aware it would cause a bit of interest with the paps, because after they landed they left the airport via different exits. Cue the "Liz and Hugh rekindle love" or "Is Liz's marriage on the rocks" headlines.

I'm not having much luck with my male celebrities this morning. It appears the old theory that horrid things comes in three's is quite true. Although, when we chose to snaps celebs that are not huge fans of the lens, we can't expect to much. Splash caught up with Hugh Grant looking very dashing as he walked solo through New York.

Hugh Grant was arrested and questioned by London police after allegedly throwing a tub of baked beans at a photographer (Didn't his mum tell him about starving children in Africa?)
Photographer Ian Whittaker claims the actor abused and kicked him then tossed the baked beans at him. Grant was arrested and released on bail, returning to court on May 5th.
What a waste of some good British baked beans. I know they only cost like 35p over there but they jack up the price to almost $2 a can here! Part of his plea deal should be to send care packages of British baked beans to those of us in the states that don't like our beans sweet.
Thats two celebrity arrests today and it's only 9AM.
After the jump, see how the paparazzi greeted him!
