The actor, who sings in new movie musical 'Sweeney Todd' said he has never tried the bar pastime, and he admitted he would need to be seriously drunk before having a go. Asked what his favourite karaoke song is, Depp replied:

"Honestly, I've always been frightened of it. I've never tried it. It scares the hell out of me. I've never been that drunk. I've been drunk - but not that drunk."

Depp plays the Demon Barber of Fleet Street in the upcoming Tim Burton Hollywood film, but he said he was terrified when he won the part, because he hadn't sung before. Depp, 44, added:

"I was probably more frightened than anyone. I'd never sung before in my life. So I thought it was important that I keep it very low-key. Initially I did demos in my friend's garage studio because I didn't know if I'd be able to hit a note. I sent it to Tim [director Tim Burton], crossed my fingers and waited for the outcome. I really went through some angst."

If you're the paparazzi, that is! Depp spoke about his reservations with the paparazzi photographing his children in Esquire mag, saying that "There's no limit to the possibilities of what I could do to the paparazzi if I catch them photographing my children." Yikes. Whenever I read these stories, I imagine Johnny Depp gritting his teeth at events like this. But it's not all bad! Depp may be fiercely protective of his children, but he loves his fans after all, saying "People are super nice in the street. Vanessa Paradis had a little more to be happy about than just Christmas spirit last night during the annual Christmas lighting ceremony at the Champs-Elysees in Paris, France. Longtime boyfriend Johnny Depp skipped the usual gifts of chocolate, flowers, cards, and lingerie and instead purchased a vineyard for Paradis as a congratulatory gift for completing her album.

He's bought her a vineyard to say congrats for her months of hard work recording a new album...Johnny bought the vineyard near the villa in Plan de la Tour, France, which he shares with the singer and their two children, Lily-Rose and Jack.

Thanks Johnny, like I need help looking like a bigger douchebag to my girlfriend when I forget her birthday, Valentines Day, Christmas, Halloween, or Arbor Day for that matter. More pics after the jump!

We spotted Johnny Depp reuniting with his old band "The Kids" in Pompano Beach, Florida last night. The reunion was for a charity event gig at the Cinema Club for the Sheila Witkin Memorial, legendary figure in the Florida music scene that volunteered tirelessly to help raise money for children afflicted by cancer, leukemia, and HIV/AIDS. Before Depp took up acting he had dreams of being a rock star and had modest local success in Florida before setting out to Los Angeles in search of a record deal.
