Yes, it's almost time for Hollywood's hottest night: The Academy Awards.
There's nothing more fun than trying to guess who's going to win each category, so in that spirit, today's Splash 7 goes out on a limb to make some Oscar predictions.
Time to place your bets, everybody!
In the Best Actor category, we predict that comeback kid Mickey Rourke might just "wrestle" an golden statue for his incredible performance as a washed up ex-superstar. After all, he's done his research!
Best Supporting Actor has got to go to Heath Ledger. The Academy won't pass up this opportunity to recognize the loss of such a great talent or his amazingly demented portrayal of "The Joker."
For Best Actress, we think Kate Winslet has a pretty good shot. She's been "The Reader" of many an acceptance speech this awards season, and she deserves it. And we can't wait to see Angie give her the stink eye from the audience!
Penelope Cruz's hot tempered, sexy performance stole the show in Vicki Cristina Barcelona, and she's our pick for Best Supporting Actress.
As for cinematography, it's a hard call...but we think The Dark Knight may be the "dark horse" to bet on in this category, with it's gorgeous Gotham city backdrop and beautiful, sweeping shots.
Best Director? It's gotta be Danny Boyle. Slumdog Millionaire was, in our opinion, the most amazing film of the year thanks to the brilliant direction of Danny Boyle. We liked it so much, that we also pick it for...
Best picture! Although The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was a technical masterpiece, and Milk and Frost/Nixon were gripping, well written period pieces...we don't think any of the other nominees come close to this beautiful, funny, tragic and colorful tale.
And hey, to all the nominees we didn't pick...just repeat the following words to yourselves: It's a honor just being nominated. It's an honor just being nominated..
